Ms. Allan of the Department of Biomedical Sciences & Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology was awarded a National Commission for Science, Technology & Innovation research grant. Ms. Allan’s research project entitled “Immunological Responses to Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine and Intestinal Nematodes Infestation in Children” is underway in oneofthe major slums in Nairobi County. This projectis aimed at raising awareness that pneumonia is among the leading killer disease in children under five years of age in Kenya.

Mrs. Otieno will be carrying out a project entitled “Isolation and Characterization of Mycoviruses for Biocontrol of Fusarium Graminearum in Wheat”.
